Summer Seasonal Specials Have Arrived!

Earlier this year we decided to redesign our seasonal special program and asked our Culinary Team to be bold and show us their “culinary chops”.  We asked and they delivered! As a result we’re pleased to announce the launch of our latest seasonal special menu. The menu showcases in-season, fresh local ingredients such as luscious heirloom tomatoes and succulent strawberries.  We’re also featuring leading local California farmers and food purveyors such as Riverdog Farms, Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese and Sundance Berry Farms.  Our specials reinforce our philosophy that as a locally owned restaurant group, we are investing in ingredients that are grown or produced in California, as often as possible. Our Culinary team appreciates that our guests delight in sampling fresh new modern Italian dishes in addition to indulging in the Pasta Pomodoro favorites!

For the next several weeks, you can find this menu along with a fixed course tasting menu throughout our restaurants in Northern and Southern California.  If you’re feeling adventurous, our Pleasant Hill and Camden Park – San Jose locations are offering a different seasonal special menu, with items that we are “testing” for future use. If you want to get in on the “testing” or try a different seasonal dish, please visit those locations to see what the Pasta Pomodoro Culinary Team is working on.  We hope you enjoy the new dishes as much as we do and look forward to your feedback!

Our new menu is available throughout Northern California!

PASTA POMODORO Rolls out NEW menu items, ENHANCED beer & wine program AND REFINED MENU DESIGN IN ALL NORTHERN CALIFORNIA RESTAURANTS

Collection of modern Italian eateries revitalizes focus on inspired fare, value-oriented wine offerings and local, sustainable purveyors

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—April 28, 2010—Pasta Pomodoro, a collection of modern Italian eateries, continues its gradual revitalization under new ownership as it debuts a new menu in all of its twenty-two Northern California restaurants.

“Our new menu is the first step towards reintroducing Pasta Pomodoro to our guests throughout the Bay Area. We want to build on the success of this collection of family friendly restaurants by focusing on ingredient quality and improving the overall dining experience,” said CEO Matt Janopaul. “The menu provides aspirational direction as to where we are headed as a restaurant group. Our dishes now showcase fresh ingredients from leading local companies such as Niman Ranch, Zoe’s Meats and Belfiore Cheese Company, and reinforce our commitment to providing great value.”

The menu features new, improved and lightened dishes that celebrate Italian favorites, a greater number of vegetarian options, an enhanced wine and beer list with a focus on offerings from small, family-owned wineries and local breweries and fresh ingredients from local purveyors.

Among the many new dishes to the Pasta Pomodoro menu, which are sure to become house favorites, include Vongole, the traditional Italian pasta with linguine, Manila clams, white wine or spicy tomato sauce and fresh parsley, chili flakes and garlic. Pasta Pomodoro has also added a vegetarian version of the classic Pasta P Lasagna made with freshly roasted vegetables as well as an Eggplant Parmigiana, an Italian vegetarian favorite with spicy tomato sauce, provolone, fresh Belfiore mozzarella and fresh basil. With the guest’s well-being in mind, Pasta Pomodoro has also lightened up several menu items including the Limone pasta, offering now a more healthful version of the traditional linguine with lemon and parmesan cream sauce.

Further, all of the Panini sandwiches, served on house-made focaccia, on the Lunch menu have been refined to feature fresh, organic and seasonal ingredients, such as the Pollo Panini with grilled chicken, provolone, organic arugula, sun-dried tomatoes and basil pesto and the Meatball Panini served on house made garlic bread with provolone and spicy tomato sauce.

Pasta Pomodoro continues to offer a selection of wines by the Taste (4 oz), Quartino (8 oz) and Mezzo (16 oz), along with a selection of carefully selected bottled wines with an emphasis on Italian and Cal-Ital varietals. Divided into categories such as “Lush & Round” under the Blanco and “Big & Bold” under Rosso, guests will now easily be able to choose a wine to suit their palate and preference.  New wineries featured include family-owned Macchia Winery from Lodi, California, well-known for its award-winning Zinfandels and Fontanafredda located in the heart of Piedmont, Italy. Beer selections now include Northern California favorites such as Trumer Pils and Speakeasy Ales & Lagers, as well as the Italian standard Birra Moretti.

Lastly, restaurant guests will now find a menu with a new shape and size as well as updated graphics and layout. The easy to read menu now features “House Specialties” prominently on the right-hand side of the menu while vegetarian items are easily distinguished by the symbol of a green basil leaf.
